When traveling together as a family, finding the right accommodation can be one of the most important things to ensuring a comfortable trip away from your home.

New resources, options, and more for families!

In the past, as a family got bigger… so did the accommodation costs, often times requiring multiple rooms and increased food costs due to eating out.  However, today there are so many new options when it comes to family friendly accommodation.  Below are a couple of tips that we follow to save some money and ensure our kids have a great experience!

  1.  Hotels: If you are looking at staying at a hotel, look for a family friendly hotel that has “family” rooms.  These rooms often have a King/Queen bed, and at least a couch bed.  Some locations might even have bunk beds for the kids.  To save some money, try to use points were possible.  Most hotel chains also support “Points + Cash”, so even if you don’t think you have enough… you might be able to offset the cost of the room a little bit.
  2. Airbnb / House Rentals: These programs are great! Often times you can get 3x the space for the same cost of a hotel.  While there are some resort amenities you might give up, you gain much more.  One of the biggest things is a full kitchen, this can save $100’s when budgeting for food as you don’t have to eat out every meal.

Below you will find our reviews for several different family friendly hotels we have had the pleasure of staying at and working with.  In each article we provide our Travel Bug rating and feedback, things to see and do, and where to eat.   When scoring and reviewing each property, we used the follow key criteria:
